Dream Boards

Supplies you will need: Poster board, sturdy board or bulletin board, glue stick, scissors, colored pencils or markers, magazines, catalogs, photos, and/or scrapbook images.

A dream board is a poster you create that contains pictures of things you want to do in life, or things your want to come true. You need to think about what you really want in life and dream big! Remember to keep everything positive (think nice thoughts). It doesn’t matter what other people think, this is YOUR dream board!

Now go through magazines, catalogs, or your favorite website and find pictures of things that represent your dreams. For example, if you want to learn how to play the guitar, you could cut out a picture of a musician playing a guitar. If you want to travel to Disney World, cut out a picture of it. Do you get the idea? First, be sure to ask your parents if it is okay to cut up their magazines and catalogs. You might need their help printing a picture off the internet. Scrapbook stores might also have images or stickers you can use. You can also cut out words to use. For example, on my dream board I cut out and glued on the words “It’s a Wonderful Life!” You can also use colored pencils and markers to write on your board. Use positive words and words that seem like you already have what you want. For example don’t write, “To go to Disney World someday”. Instead write “Thank you for the perfect vacation in Disney World”.

Things you might want to include on your board: family, friends, school, vacation, health, and sports. You might also want to include something to represent Spirit, such as a picture of Jesus, Buddha, Brahman, or an angel. I always include something to represent spirit on my boards since I believe that everything good in my life comes through the Supreme Creator, which I call God.

Once you have the pictures and words you want, arrange them on the board in a way that looks good to you. Then glue everything onto the board. If you are using a bulletin board, don’t glue things on it; just use tacks to keep them in place.

Place your dream board someplace where you will see it often, maybe by your bed, on the wall, or in your quiet spot. The more you look at your dream board, the better. Looking at it helps your inner mind to think that these things are already in your life. And that helps them come to pass! You don’t have to show your dream board to anyone if you don’t want to. People who don’t understand how a dream board works might laugh. Just remember, if you believe in it, that is all that matters.

Dream boards are for people of any age. Sometimes a whole family will make one dream board for all their dreams. I still make dream boards and I am in my 50s. It is important for everyone to continue to have dreams all their life. As your dreams come true and you have new things you want to happen in your life, you will want to make new dream boards.
